L3U4 - Conversation 1

Dr. Garner: Good morning, Charlie. How can I help you?

Charlie: Hi, doctor. I haven’t felt well lately.

Dr. Garner: Can you tell me when you started feeling sick?

Charlie: I have felt sick since Monday morning.

Dr. Garner: Right! Have you felt tired?

Charlie: Yes, I have. I’ve also had a fever since Tuesday.

Dr. Garner: Okay, and have you had a stomachache or diarrhea?

Charlie: No, I haven’t, my stomach is fine. My throat is what has hurt a lot lately.

Dr. Garner: Well, let me take a look. Can you open your mouth?

Charlie: Yes, just let me take off my mask.

Dr. Garner: So, it looks like your throat is irritated. Have you sneezed lately?

Charlie: No, I haven’t, but I had a headache for hours last night.

Dr. Garner: I suppose that you haven’t had a stuffy nose or loss of smell.

Charlie: Yes, I’ve had a stuffy nose, but I haven’t lost the sense of smell. Is that bad? I’ve already had COVID-19, so I don’t think I might have gotten COVID again.

Dr. Garner: Don’t worry, you’ve got the flu. But if you don’t feel better soon, you’ll need to get a test. For now, I’m going to give you these pills. You’ll take them twice a day starting today.

Charlie: All right, doctor. And how long should I take them?

Dr. Garner: You’ll take them for five days.

Charlie: Thank you, doctor. I will.

Dr. Garner: Of course. Let me know if your symptoms persist.
